Camera Trails - Ain Al Ghamour

Hike into the mountains to review hidden camera footage of UAE wildlife.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Participants will join the Emirates Nature-WWF team on a guided hike through the UAE mountains to discover how scientists capture footage of local wildlife, with a focus on rare and endangered species.

Along the way, participants will learn about camera traps from the experts – how camera traps work and how to install them – and use the iNaturalist app to observe and record species throughout the hike.

What will participants learn or gain from the activity?

  1. Learn about wildlife tracking and documentation through the use of camera traps.
  2. Explore different mountain habitats in the UAE and record the species they see in the iNaturalist app to support scientific research.

WHICH AREA OF IMPACT DOES IT CONTRIBUTE TO?

  • Nature and Wildlife: Protect 30% of the UAE’s wild areas by 2030.
  • Citizen Science: Collect 5,000 new research-grade observations of animals and plants in the UAE.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

This session is open to members of Leaders of Change, who are 16 and above. A good level of fitness is required.
