Climate Series: Exploring Planetary Boundaries

Uncover the concept of planetary boundaries and their role in defining a safe operating space for humanity

About the activity

Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking online session as we dive into the concept of planetary boundaries and their significance in safeguarding Earth's delicate balance. Discover the interconnectedness of various global environmental challenges and explore strategies for creating a sustainable future within these boundaries.

In this third session we uncover the concept of planetary boundaries and their role in defining a safe operating space for humanity. Learn about the nine planetary boundaries identified by scientists, including climate change, biodiversity loss, land use, freshwater use, and more. Gain insights into the scientific framework and methods used to establish these boundaries.

Climate Change and Planetary Boundaries Explore the critical role of climate change as a planetary boundary. Understand the impacts of rising greenhouse gas emissions, temperature increases, and the potential tipping points that could push the Earth system beyond its limits. Discuss mitigation strategies, renewable energy solutions, and the need for international cooperation to address this pressing challenge.

Let's explore the challenges, opportunities, and pathways to create a sustainable world within the limits of our planet's capacity.

An eye-opening and very informative session.

I want to thank you for the recent event on Planetary Boundaries. It was really eye-opening and added to my understanding in many ways. Before this event, I thought Climate Change and Biodiversity loss were the biggest issues. But now, I see how big a threat Biogeochemical Flows are - they've already crossed safe limits and that's something I didn't realize before. This event made me interested in learning more about these areas. So, I'm looking forward to future events where I can learn more about Biodiversity and Biogeochemical Flows. Thank you again for such a helpful and interesting event.

Very Good event.

Such an informative session thank you 🙌
