Unlock the secrets of survival with us in this captivating online session! Adaptation is the key to thriving in extreme climates, intricately linked with the challenges posed by climate variability.
Join us as we delve into the remarkable strategies employed by diverse species to endure the scorching desert heat and other harsh environments. From camouflaging techniques to specialized physiological adaptations, you'll witness nature's ingenuity at its finest.
In this session, you will also master techniques for locating and purifying water sources, and discover how to identify edible plants to sustain yourself in any situation!
ABOUT THE SERIES
This session is also part of a 10-session series, where you will explore the rich tapestry of life unique to the UAE, from the expansive desert sands to the hidden oases, freshwater habitats, and coastal regions, while understanding the intricate link between biodiversity and climate change!
Through expert-led discussions, you'll gain a deep understanding of the importance of biodiversity conservation, sustainable stewardship practices, and their role in mitigating climate change and preserving the UAE's natural heritage.
By attending a total of 7 sessions, you will receive a certificate of completion, recognizing your commitment to environmental education and conservation efforts in the region!
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Theo Busschau, an evolutionary biologist at NYU Abu Dhabi and wildlife guide for Emirates Nature WWF.
Theo has a life-long passion for reptiles, particularly vipers which are the focus of his PhD.
Moaz Sawaf, Terrestrial Conservation Expert
Moaz has more than 15 years of field work experience which includes working with mammals in the UAE and South Africa, and is an expert on the Arabian Leopard. He is highly knowledgeable about the UAE deserts, mountains and wildlife.

Very informative talks by Moaz and Theo, I learnt some very interesting new techniques from Moaz, and a better understanding of the geology and ecology of the UAE from Theo.
