Join us for a special evening at the enchanting Wadi Wurrayah in Fujairah, where you'll have the chance to explore the rich wildlife thriving under the mountain night sky. Your participation is essential in gathering valuable data to support ongoing research through citizen science, contributing to the preservation of this remarkable natural habitat. This event offers a unique blend of education, hands-on conservation, and community connection as we work together to protect environmental treasures for future generations.

Who Can Join?
No prior experience is necessary, but a reasonable level of fitness is required. Participants should be able to walk 2 km in the wadi and record data using their cellphones. While we welcome volunteers of all ages, this activity is not suitable for babies. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. For inquiries, please contact us at [email protected].
Impact Contribution
The data you help collect will support the expansion of our conservation efforts, and will be used to:
- Identify species, distribution and important areas for the various life stages of each species
- Monitor recovery and pressures
- Investigate how Protected Areas affect populations
- Data collected around the various species can feed into the National Plans of Action for the conservation of these species and support IUCN red listing efforts
- Help change people’s attitudes and behaviors towards bats, scorpions and geckos.
This activity supports our objective to:
- Protect 30% of the UAE’s wild areas by 2030.
- Make 5,000 new research-grade observations on iNaturalist– that’s 30% more data than we currently have for the UAE on the iNaturalist app.

Event: Nocturnal Wonders in Wadi Wurayah as a volunteer for me it was a wonderful lifetime memorable experience to be in Wadi Wurayah at nighttime, total darkness all round under the sky, surrounded by Hajar Mountains and all the volunteers along with Emirates Nature – WWF Representatives walking with torches searching for the wildlife species and recording the observation using iNaturalist app. A good opportunity for all volunteers to learn about the species in Wadi Wurayah, to protect wildlife, to share each other interest and knowledge for wildlife conservation. Thank you, Emirates Nature – WWF and Fujairah Environmental Authority for the opportunity to participate in the Event and thank you to all the participating volunteers.
