Earth Hour Switch Off Parade

ABOUT THE ACTIVITY

The ‘Earth Hour Switch Off Parade’ will be led by the Dubai Police marching band and followed by members of the Emirates Nature-WWF Leaders of Change programme and the public as well . 

The event is a key opportunity that the public is encouraged to be a part of to increase awareness around climate change as well as highlighting how we must go beyond Earth Hour and make daily changes to help the planet moving forward.

The procession will make its way throughout EXPO 2020 from 8:30 pm until 9:30 pm. Starting point and finishing point to be confirmed.

To symbolically represent the Earth Hour, 60+ participating pavilions will be prompted to switch-off at intervals for 1 minute, culminating a total of 1 hour to honour the Hour.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE

Everyone, registered member or not, is welcome to join. There is no fee or prerequisites for participating in the Parade.

FAQS

1. Is this Emirates Nature-WWF’s parade?
   Yes. Earth Hour is a WWF product. And this parade is in place to create awareness for climate change and nature loss. Hence, this parade is exclusive to Earth Hour, being conducted with the support of Expo 2020.
2. What are the timings for the parade and how long will the parade last?
   The parade will take place between 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM (Earth Hour) on Saturday, March 26th. The parade shall last for 1 hour. However, participants are required to report 30 mins in advance, i.e., 8 PM.
3. Is the parade open only to Leaders of Change members?
   No. The parade is open to everyone. We welcome participants to showcase their support towards the cause.
4. Will Expo 2020 passes be provided?
   No. Participants must have their own tickets for the Expo 2020.
5. What will be the official communication channel for registered participating members?
   We will create a WhatsApp group to ensure effective coordination between all participating members. Details for the same will be sent to members automatically once they register on the platform.
6. What happens once the parade ends?
   Once the parade ends at 9:30 PM, participating members are free to leave and enjoy the various experiences at Expo 2020.
7. Will the participants receive anything against their attendance?
   Yes. All Leaders of Change participating members will receive an e-certificate within 1 month of the event.
8. Will snacks, refreshments or beverages be provided?
   No snacks, refreshments or beverages will be provided by Emirates Nature-WWF. We recommend participants carry their own reusable bottle.
