The monitoring of native trees in Wadi Wurayya plays a crucial role in sustaining the region’s delicate mountain ecosystem. By regularly tracking tree growth, health, and regeneration rates, conservation teams can assess the impact of climate change, grazing, and human activity on native species such as the Sidr and Ghaf trees. This ongoing monitoring supports the sustainable management of natural resources, ensuring that reforestation and protection efforts are guided by scientific data. It also helps maintain biodiversity, regulate soil and water quality, and preserve habitats for native wildlife—ensuring that Wadi Wurayya’s unique ecological balance endures for future generations. Again it was an informative and interesting Event: Monitoring Native Trees: Preserving Our Ecosystem at Wadi Wurayah, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Fujairah. It was an opportunity for all the volunteers to see and monitor the growth of the Native tress planted during the Event Native Tree Reforestation. Volunteers learned about how to check the growth of the Native Trees species like Sidr, Ghaf, Samar and Arabian Morings by visual inspection of plants, leaves for their color change from green to yellow colour to see for the weak plant or dried leaves. Emirates Nature – WWF Representatives also shared the knowledge to how to measure the tree stem thickness and the height of the trees to monitor their growth and their benefits like Increased biodiversity, habitat for Species in the areas especially for birds and other species in the areas.
